2011-12 Children's Ministry (3 Years through Fifth Grade)

We believe it is through living out and sharing our faith in
Christ that we grow to rely on Him, love Him, serve Him and
know Him. So this year, each class is challenging themselves
to put on the WHOLE armor of God.Watch as they creatively
live out their faith and dress themselves with the helmet of
Salvation, the shield of Faith, the sword of the Spirit, the
Word of God, the breastplate of Righteousness, the belt of
Truth, and feet that are wearing the Gospel of Peace!

Each Wednesday night, we gather in worshipping Jesus
together, through fellowship, singing, lively skits, puppets
and active learning. We also enjoy small group/classroom
time, where we engage in more in-depth Bible Study,
fellowship, accountability and prayer!

The topics we learn about each Wednesday evening directly
correlate with what Pastor Rob preaches on the following
Sunday. We encourage you to discuss these important Bible
stories/faith topics at home and bring your children to
worship on Sunday to help further their faith growth!
New Heights is a "Cross-Generational Faith Family." Our primary goal with our children is to help them grow in
their faith in Jesus and connect it with everyday life, while building trusting relationships in their faith family.
We accomplish this by helping our children to:

LOVE GOD
  • by modeling and encouraging children to seek God through prayer, worship, Bible Study and fellowship.
  • by helping children trust Christ as their Savior and learn to live their lives for Him.
  • by learning and memorizing the Word of God so that it can take deep root in their hearts, enabling
them to understand God’s story, the beauty of His grace, and His purpose for their lives.

LOVE NEIGHBOR
  • by creating a Christian Community of children and adults who enjoy life together as a family and who
are committed to Jesus Christ and to one another.
  • by helping children to honor God through their thoughts, words and actions at home, at school, at play
    or wherever they are.

GROW AS DISCIPLES
  • by recognizing that faith growth is an ongoing and a daily adventure!
  • by deepening children’s understanding of Scripture as well as enhancing their ability to apply Biblical
principles to everyday life and equipping them to share their faith with others.
In addition to the material all the children will be learning, we have a specific focus for each class. These
foundational faith steps are key building blocks which help our children to establish a strong foundation for
their faith.

We want the children to understand both why these are important and what they mean!

  • 3 year olds: Learn who God is, that we can talk with Him and are comfortable praying to Him. Learn
basic songs of faith and praise.
  • 4 year olds: Learn who Jesus is, about His miracles and that He died for each of us. Learn the Lord’s
    Prayer.
  • Kindergarten: Learn about the Holy Spirit and His guidance in our lives. Memorize the fruits of the
Spirit and how to live them out.
  • 1st Grade: Learn the foundational stories of the Old Testament, how they impact our life of faith.
    Learn the 10 Commandments.
  • 2nd Grade: Learn the New Testament Books of the Bible, how to use the Bible and how to develop a
daily routine of reading God’s Word.
  • 3rd Grade: Learn about the Beatitudes and the Parables of Jesus.
  • 4th Grade: Memorize the 23rd Psalm and become familiar with MANY key verses of faith and why they
should be PLANTED in our heart, mind and soul.
  • 5th Grade: Tough questions of faith… Who is Jesus? Why do I worship Him? Why did he have to die?
Does Jesus love me? What does it mean to have a personal relationship with Him? What does Salvation
mean and why does it change the way I live?
